What is ‘Napolean Dynamite?’
Napoleon Dynamite is a much loved American comedy film produced by Jeremy Coon, Chris Wyatt, Sean Covel and Jory Weitz. Written by talented creators Jared and Jerusha Hess the film starred a relatively unknon actor, Jon Heder who very quickly became a comedy sensation. Paid just $1,000 for his work, he later re-negotiated his compensation due to the film becoming a sensation! Shot near Franklin County, Idaho in the summer of 2003, the film is loosely based on Jared Hess’ life and it’s pretty clear that the result was a film that most people saw a part of themselves in too.
What is Napolean Dynamite about?
From the official website link of the Searchlight Pictures website:
“From the rural town of Preston, Idaho, comes Napoleon Dynamite (Jon Heder). With a red ‘fro, his moon boots, and illegal government ninja moves, he is a new kind of hero. His family consists of fragile brother Kip (Aaron Ruell), who’s seeking his soulmate in online chat rooms; Uncle Rico (Jon Gries), who is stuck in his “glory” days of high school football; and Grandma (Sandy Martin), who enjoys going out to the dunes on her quad-runner. Napoleon spends his days drawing magical beasts, working on his computer hacking skills to impress the chicks, and begrudgingly feeding his Grandma’s pet llama. When his friend Pedro (Efren Ramirez) decides to run for class president, it is Napoleon to the rescue to help him triumph over adversity.”
With classic quotes such as ‘Make yourself a dang Quesadilla’ or ‘I like your sleeves. They’re real…..big’ becoming part of everyday conversation, it’s pretty safe to say that Napolean Dynamite will remain one of those stand out classics for many years to come.
